Ian Moss

My initial interest in imaging was just to make a record of the more interesting moments of my observing. At first, I persevered in making images of a few double stars, star clusters and the Moon with short exposures, using an old digital compact camera on a Maksutov telescope of 1500mm focal length and an AltAz GOTO mount. I have moved on over a long learning curve (still going) to my current interest in imaging nebulae and galaxies using refractors and a dedicated astronomy camera.

Equipment:

Mount: Skywatcher HEQ5 Pro with Rowan belt drive.

Telescopes: RVO Horizon 60ED F6 refractor (usually with a 0.8 reducer/flattener).

RVO Horizon 102ED F7 refractor with flattener.

Both operated with an auto-focuser, electronic filter wheel and guide-scope.

ZWO ASI585MC Pro cooled astronomy camera.

All above operated with a ZWO ASiair Plus wi-fi imaging controller.

ZWO SeeStar S30 smartscope.
