HAS members were generally unlucky with the total eclipse on August 11th 1999. Most travelled to Cornwall and were unable to see much of the eclipse due to cloud cover. The same was true for some members who travelled to France. Members Tim Watson and daughter Emma-Jane had a good view of the eclipse from the French coast.

Our other success came from HAS's Astrophotography expert Elizabeth Watson, who took these great pictures from near Passau, Germany. Equipment used was a 500mm lens with a 2X teleconvertor onto Fuji 100 ISO film.
